Salinas is located 144 km from the city of Guayaquil, in the far more outgoing of the coast of the South Pacific, forming part of the province of Santa Elena, in the area known as "Puntilla de Santa Elena."
Salinas has been formed as a city that is largely based on tourism of sun, sea and beach, with a first class infrastructure.
